Greta West is one of Victoria's oldest family owned studs established in the 1960s by Les & Maureen McCarthy and continued today by their sons John & Laurie.

Situated in the Greta Valley in North-East Victoria, it’s nestled in the highly fertile Ovens & King districts with frontage to 15 Mile Creek.

Greta West comprises two farms of 300 acres each with a breeding farm and an agistment farm.  We provide individual care and a full range of services from walk-ins to agistment of mares, yearlings & weanlings, spelling & foaling down etc. at very competitive rates.

Toy Pindarri

Greta West was home for 20 years to legendary sire Toy Pindarri (NZ).

A stakes winning sprinter at Randwick and Eagle Farm, he retired to Greta West and sired a string of quality racehorses during a long career at stud.

Group 1 winners Zaparri, Sea Brigand and Pindi headed his tally of individual winners that reached 323 when Coll and Tiree was successful on the opening day of the 2011 Warrnambool Cup carnival.

Those 324 individual winners have collectively won 1,242 races at a phenomenal 68% strike-rate.
