Bee Five makes beeline to victory

Friday, 20 May 2011

King of Prussia pumped out winner after winner in the first half of May starting with Bee Five at Pakenham.  The Cranbourne based gelding won with plenty in hand on debut on May 2.

Bee Five (5g King Of Prussia - Atomic Burst by Geiger Counter) was the first of 8 individual winners by the Greta West sire in May and trainer Anthony Bolden reckons there’s more in store this campaign.

“We’ve had to be patient because he wasn’t a two year-old,” Bolden explained.  “But right from the start I knew there was a real good horse just under the surface.”

The King of Prussia gelding is a homebred for Leo Kuter who had won races with his older half-brother Bee Four (Gallo di Ferro).  “I told Leo we would have a lot of fun with the horse,” Bolden continued.  “The only proviso was not to rush him.”

Fellow Cranbourne trainer Colin Davies prepared Bee Four and Bee Five before Kuter transferred Bee Five to Bolden.  “I was only too happy to have him in the stable.  I like the King Of Prussia horses.  I had broken-in and pre-trained a couple of them and they really impressed me.”
