Greta West Stud stallions Keep The Faith and King Of Prussia maintained their strong strike-rates with a winning double on Swan Hill Cup day.
Hill Of Faith (4g Keep The Faith – Firhill by Marauding) towered over his rivals in the Vetta Spaghetti Hcp (975m) on Sunday. The Allen Browell trained giant sat on the pace to make it two wins in three starts after a Bendigo victory a month ago.
“He’s a big horse, alright,” winning jockey Andrew Mallyon said. “Al’s got him going nicely and now he’s really finishing off his races.”
Hill Of Faith is owned by Browell's wife Val along with Kate Glass and Horrie West. The Bendigo based partnership also races his older half-sister Two Hills (Hillman) who has banked over $350,000 in and around Melbourne.
Earlier on Sunday, Highway Princess was too tough for her rivals in the Swan Hill Credit Union Maiden (1600m). She is also based at Bendigo and will continue to improve according to trainer Bob Donat.
Highway Princess (3f King Of Prussia - Tehoke Princess by Brondesbury) is raced by Cohuna GP Peter Barker and his wife Shirlene. “She ran a good race first-up over 1200m at Ballarat last month,” Donat said. “They raced on a Heavy 8 that day and it was more like a 1400m race.
“I thought she would be competitive over a mile second-up,” Donat added. “It’s a pity ‘Doc Cohuna’ wasn’t here to see the win - he’s down in Tassie for the long weekend.”
Keep The Faith is in the Victorian Top 10 this season with progeny earnings of $1.47 million this season. He reached a career high last month when Dinkum Diamond and Lucky Penny completed a stakes winning double at Morphettville.
Keep The Faith (Sunday Silence) will stand for $4,400 (inc gst) at Greta West Stud this year. King Of Prussia (Anabaa) is available for a $2,750 (inc gst) service fee.
