Promising Destiny for Godís Own
Friday, 10 May 2013

God's Own can mark his move to Greta West Stud with another stakes winner at the Queensland winter carnival.

Within hours of his transfer from Eliza Park Stud to Greta West, God's Own sired promising three year-old Destiny Rising to a first-up win at Canterbury.

Destiny Rising (3g God's Own - Palace De Lago by Encosta De Lago) dispatched a maiden field with a minimum of fuss in the Australian Turf Club Plate (1100m) on Wednesday.  "I've always had an opinion of this horse," trainer Brian Gentle said after the four length victory.  "He was up against the likes of Proisir, Norzita and Urquidez during his first prep last year and is a better horse for it.

"We had him gelded and that helped, too.  I will give him another run here and then send him up to Queensland."

Gentle, a former stable foreman for John O'Shea, said the Listed Sunshine Coast Guineas (1600m) on June 29 would be the gelding's goal at the winter carnival.

His dam Palace De Lago only got as far as a Gatton maiden victory in 10 starts for Lauriston Thoroughbreds owners Kevin and Tanith O'Brien.  They sold her, in foal to God's Own, for $10,000 at the 2009 Inglis Great Southern Sale.

Destiny Rising was part of a winning double for God's Own after his Victorian based mare Manor Lady was an easy winner for trainer Robbie Griffiths at Sandown on Wednesday.

God's Own (Redoute's Choice) can keep up the winning momentum when Vatican goes for a running double at Caulfield on Saturday.  Trainer Byron Cozamanis has nominated the slick sprinter for the Elizabeth S Marshall Hcp (1100m) at Caulfield.

God's Own gelding breaks the 955m track record at Moonee Valley

Vatican is one of the fastest horses in training clocking a course record 54.69 seconds for 955 metres in the Moonee Valley Mazda Challenge on February 22.  He backed-up with a Caulfield win on April 20 running 1000 metres in 63.99 seconds on a Dead 5 surface.

"I won a Mazda when he ran that fantastic race at Moonee Valley," Cozamanis said.  "He's been up since October but hasn't gone backwards.   He must be enjoying it - he showed that last start."

God's Own (Redoute's Choice) joined King of Prussia and Keep The Faith on the Greta West roster this week after Eliza Park was put up for sale.
