Entre Nous wins Euroa Cup
Tuesday, 10 November 2015

Greta West Stud stallion King Of Prussia led home a Victorian-bred trifecta when his gelding Entre Nous won the Euroa Cup (1407m) at Benalla on Sunday.

Entre Nous stalked a hot speed before powering away to salute by two lengths under Ben Allen.   The rookie apprentice produced a gem of a ride for his master Gerald Egan to defeat Bottle Of Smoke and Hero Master.

“I gave him a squeeze after jumping and he relaxed and got rolling behind the leader Lorrie’s Gift,” Allen said.  “He travelled so well and when the pressure went on in the straight, he raced away.”

Entre Nous (5g King Of Prussia – Madam Delia by Demus) broke through in a Benalla maiden at the same meeting last year and he’s gone through the grades since then winning 4 of his last 6 starts at Echuca, Wodonga, Swan Hill and Benalla.

The Wodonga Cup (1600m) is his next assignment on November 27.

Egan trains the gelding for Wodonga breeder Frank Elkington and they also have his younger brother Magic Monarch who was placed at Wodonga on debut last month.

Elkington, who is a brother of the late Meggs Elkington, raced their dam Madam Delia and the last of her 8 victories was in the 2009 Towong Cup.  He sent her back to King of Prussia for a third time last year and she foaled a filly in September.

Greta West studmaster Laurie McCarthy stands King Of Prussia alongside God’s Own and Keep The Faith.  “He’s 17 and is as fertile as ever – only one of his mares needed more than a single cover last year,” McCarthy said.  “His 3yo filly Pranfare won second-up at Geelong on Saturday and we are booking mares in for $2,000.”
