Bell tolls for Sirbible
Saturday, 5 December 2015

Alice Springs trainer Russell Bell will open a Melbourne stable in the New Year and it will be spearheaded by his Gods Own gelding Sirbible.

Bell floated Sirbible all the way to Moonee Valley for an all-the-way victory in the $40,000 Vic Wide Towing Hcp (1200m) on Fright night.  The tough four year-old returned to scale to a boisterous group of owners who also made the long trek from the Red Centre.

It was a long trip but hes just a tough animal, Bell declared.  Hes the first winner Ive trained in the city and were going to alternate between Alice Springs and Victoria from now on.  Hopefully, this horse will win a few more down here.

Sirbible won five races last season including the NT Guineas before finishing down the track in the Alice Springs Cup.  I made a mistake stretching him out to 2000m in the Cup, Bell said.  Hes a very talented horse but we will keep him sprinting in future.

The gelding will stay in Melbourne before heading back home for the $100,000 Pioneer Sprint (1200m) on April 30.

Sirbible changed hands for $5,500 at the Inglis 2013 Red Centre Yearling Sale and is one of two winners by Greta West Stud sire Gods Own from No Fable (Hemingway).  His younger sister Alaskan Wolf won her first two starts at Taree in August.

No Fable and her dam No Mischief (Mister C), a Listed winner of the 1995 Vanity Stakes at Flemington, were bred by Tim Stewart (FBAA).

Gods Own (Redoutes Choice) stands at Greta West for a $4,400 (inc gst) fee.  He has sired the winners of 38 races this season Devout Diamond made in 39 at Benalla on Saturday.
