trainer Russell Bell will open a Melbourne stable in the New Year and it
will be spearheaded by his God’s Own gelding Sirbible.
floated Sirbible all the way to Moonee Valley for an all-the-way victory
in the $40,000 Vic Wide Towing Hcp (1200m) on Fright night. The tough
four year-old returned to scale to a boisterous group of owners who also
made the long trek from the Red Centre.
“It was a long trip but
he’s just a tough animal,” Bell declared. “He’s the first winner I’ve
trained in the city and we’re going to alternate between Alice Springs
and Victoria from now on. Hopefully, this horse will win a few more
Sirbible won five races last season including the NT
Guineas before finishing down the track in the Alice Springs Cup. “I
made a mistake stretching him out to 2000m in the Cup,” Bell said.
“He’s a very talented horse but we will keep him sprinting in future.”
The gelding will stay in Melbourne before heading back home for the $100,000 Pioneer Sprint (1200m) on April 30.

Fable (Hemingway). His younger sister Alaskan Wolf won her first two
starts at Taree in August.
No Fable and her dam No Mischief
(Mister C), a Listed winner of the 1995 Vanity Stakes at Flemington,
were bred by Tim Stewart (FBAA).
God’s Own (Redoute’s Choice)
