Contract Racing won with Pillar Of Creation in Brisbane last weekend after a frustrating twelve months with Toowoomba trainer Tony Sears.
Pillar Of Creation moved from Melbourne this time last year and Sears became exasperated after watching him run placings in the LR Weetwood and LR Glasshouse.
The unlucky run continued when he lost the LR Sunshine Coast Cup on protest in January but all was forgiven when the gelding won the GPK Handicap (1350m) at Doomben on Saturday.
"I sulked for two weeks but it's behind me now," Sears declared. "I'm very happy for David and Jenny Moodie from Contract Racing and Peter Burnett…they've stuck with me."
Pillar Of Creation was stakes placed as a juvenile at Flemington and won a heat of the Slickpix Silver Bowl Series at Swan Hill as a three year-old for trainers Mat Ellerton and Simon Zahra. He also won Super VOBIS sprints at Caulfield and Moonee Valley before transferring to the Sunshine State.
"We will ease up and bring him back for the Weetwood Hcp in April," Sears added. "He ran second last year and it would be nice to win it this time."
Greta West Stud stallion God's Own sired him from Contract Racing homebred Cosmic Dust (Hurricane Sky). Second-dam Prodigious Girl (Aspect) had won races at Caulfield and Sandown in 1988-89 and she also foaled the Moodie family's Melbourne stakes winners Blazing Aspect and Slipstream.
