Reset colt leads Little Plains at Oaklands
Friday, 26 February 2016

Barb Ivill and her late husband Ted had been operating Little Plains Stud for over 20 years before Oaklands opened for business and she's back with another draft of 7 yearlings for Melbourne Premier.

"I remember the first sale when it was owned by Dalgety," Ivill recalled.  "It was hot with a howling wind and there weren't any trees."

Over the years, Little Plains has sold its share of winners including Pacino (Bianconi) who won 8 races, including a running double at Flemington, for prizemoney of $481,485.

The Wangaratta stud starts the 2016 Melbourne Premier with Lot 88, a Reset colt from Sandown winner Lady Phoebe (Stravinsky).  "He's all quality and moves well," Ivill said.  "He's intelligent and thoroughly good type."

The Reset colt is one of several being sold as agent for John & Laurie McCarthy of Greta West Stud and another is the Americain Tottenham Girl colt (Lot 402).  "He's full of himself that one," Ivill commented.  "He's very strong and overall a beautiful type."

The Reward For Effort Stagerush filly (Lot 680) is being sold in Premier II on Wednesday.  "The sire is going extremely well," Ivill said.  "This filly has size and she's strong and athletic."

Little Plains Stud is located in Barn B at Oaklands.
