Prussian Vixen has been set to extend her winning run in a Caulfield sprint on Saturday week, April 23.
trainer Michael Mehegan has earmarked a $60,000 Benchmark 78 (1000m)
for the King Of Prussia filly who has won 5 of her 7 starts since Xmas.
“She’s been up for a while but comes home and cleans the feed-bin,”
Mehegan said. “She’s tough and we space her runs. I was nearly going
to spell her but while she keeps winning, we will keep going.”
time out, Prussian Vixen banked $62,000 including a Super VOBIS bonus
with a front-running victory in the Cleanaway Hcp (1200m) at
Mornington’s metro meeting on April 2.
In a city first for
Mehegan, she led and managed to dig deep and skip a few lengths clear in
the straight. “Blinkers have helped,” Mehegan claimed. “She had
always been a consistent performer but they’ve added an extra length.”
Vixen (3f King Of Prussia - Miss Eileen by Lion Hunter) won her maiden
by 5 lengths at Mornington and got within 0.32 seconds of the 1200m
track-record against older horses at Pakenham.
“Michael and the
team have done an enormous job with this filly,” jockey Dylan Dunn
said. “The gate wasn’t ideal so I gave her a dig and she crossed the
field. She switched off, relaxed and came back underneath me with a
Greta West Stud resident King Of Prussia (Anabaa)

(Spectacular Love) and Monarch Prince (Prince Echo). Her dam Miss
Eileen won three races in Victoria’s north-east for Mehegan and she was
bred back to Greta West sire Keep The Faith last October.
