Local trainer Symon Wilde kicked off his best-ever Warrnambool carnival with Keep The Faith sprinter Ilgattino on Tuesday.
All five of his winners were sired by Victorian based stallions.
Ilgattino was having his first start for Wilde and raced right away for a convincing victory in the Greyhound Adoption Program Hcp (1200m). Settling in the back-half of the field after a 20 week spell, he switched off on a Heavy 10 surface and then railed up to score by over two lengths.
"We were confident – he's been working well and goes alright on wet tracks," Wilde said. "Kelvin Bourke sent him to us earlier this year and he loves the beach."
was runner-up in the Inglis 2YO Gold Plate (1100m) at Bendigo on debut in April 2013 and won his maiden at Cranbourne as a spring three year-old. Bourke border-hopped him on a regular basis last season for three wins at Morphettville and the latest result sent his earnings to $191,510.
Greta West Stud resident Keep The Faith sired him from Catbird mare Ilgatto. Her only other foal Mr Copperfield (Man Of Illusion) was a Werribee winner for Marcus Fahler.
Wilde doubled up on Tuesday with God Forbid (Floral Pegasus) and prepared a winning treble on Thursday courtesy of Gold Medals (Elvstroem), Rata Tat Tat (Host) and Florida Pearl (Bianconi).
"We're still a family business," Wilde said. "Dad, Mum and all my sisters are here and that's what makes it so special. I'm Warrnambool born and bred and have really got to thank the team at home, they do a great job."
