Country speed-machine Fraulein Rustie has earned a trip to Melbourne for the Inglis 55 Second Challenge series at Moonee Valley.
Trainers
John & Chris Ledger will bring her to town for Heat 7 of the Inglis
Challenge (955m) on December 2. The King Of Prussia mare has raced
just three times for first-up wins at Wodonga in April and at Wangaratta
on November 14.
“She’s one of the fastest horses we’ve
prepared,” Chris Ledger said. “She’s a big, strong girl and weighs in
at 550kg. Linda Meech jumped off last week and said she’s got natural
speed and is the quickest horses she’s ridden in the country for a long
time.
“We’ve trained lots of King Of Prussia winners from Greta
West,” Ledger added. “They’ve got a good attitude and will pay you back
if you let them find their feet first.”
Greta West studmaster Laurie McCarthy stands him for a $2,000 service fee.
Fraulein
Rustie (4m King Of Prussia - Rustie Bugles by Toy Pindarri) races for
Victorian breeder Karen Piergrosse in partnership Kaye & John Walsh,
Margaret & Geoff Binder.
Piergrosse is a Collingwood fan
and the mare sports their black and white colours. “I’m the only
Collingwood supporter – the rest of them barrack for Geelong or
Essendon,” she said. “But they go with the flow and wear black and
white to the races even though they despise the Pies.”
The Black
& White syndicate also raced Secret Toy Bizness (Written Tycoon)
with the Ledgers for wins at Flemington, Caulfield and Moonee Valley.
Both
mares are from daughters of grey stallion Toy Pindarri (NZ) who covered
20 books at Greta West until 2005. He sired 323 individual winners,
including 12 black-type winners, at a phenomenal, long-term, strike-rate
of 68%.
Greta West resident God’s Own has a great record in the
Inglis 55 Second Challenge siring 2012-13 winner Vatican and this
season’s Heat 1 winner Sirbible who clocked a yet-to-be-bettered 54.84s.
In
Adelaide, God’s Own sprinter Mio Dio will chase summer feature riches
after completing a hat-trick at Morphettville on Saturday. “He’s just
flying, this horse,” jockey Jamie Kah said after the C A Haigh Memorial
(1250m). “Even after the line, he was getting away from them.”
Mio
Dio is one of the most improved horses in training with Will Clarken
and will be set for the LR City Of Marion Stakes (1200m) on December 10
and Listed Christmas Hcp (1200m) on Boxing Day.
