Wow - Miss Wahoo bolts in on Boxing Day
Thursday, 28 December 2017

Trainer Tony McEvoy celebrated a Morphettville Boxing Day victory when Miss Wahoo thrashed her rivals in the Frank Frankenfeld Plate (1050m).

The Master Of Design filly sprinted strongly in the home straight to score by four lengths after being backed into a short-priced $1.30 favourite.  “She’s black type quality,” McEvoy claimed.  “She’s already been stakes-placed and hopefully we can get her back to that level again.”

Miss Wahoo (3f Master Of Design - Fish Dive by Pins) had finished third when facing the starter for the first time in the LR Debutant Stakes at Caulfield last season but hadn’t been seen since failing at Sandown in February.

“She pulled up lame and had bone chips removed from a knee,” McEvoy revealed.  “We gave her a good spell and she looks to have come back in top order and today’s race should give her a lot of confidence.”

Miss Wahoo sold for $45,000 at the 2016 Inglis Classic Sale.  Her NZ-bred dam Fish Dive (Pins) was originally owned by Patinack Farm before transferring to Victorian breeder Kon Papanicolaou in 2012.

Winning jockey Jamie Kah said she had a lap full of horse in running.  “She slotted in and then took off when I let her down at the top of the straight.  I didn’t even have to push her out.  She’s an exciting filly for the future.”

Master Of Design (Redoute’s Choice) stands at Greta West Stud and he has three colts catalogued from Grenville Stud at the Tasmanian Magic Millions in February.
